Pitta is a messaging and commerce app that connects customers with the businesses they choose to follow. This page says what we collect, why, and how to get it removed. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.
What we collect from customers
Phone number: your account is your number. We send a one-time code to it to sign you in. We never see or store a password.
Device details: a device id, platform and app version, so that only one phone is signed in at a time and so we can tell you when an update is required.
Messages and media you exchange with businesses, held on our servers for the period the business sets (two days by default, then deleted) so they can be delivered to your phone and to the business.
Orders, bookings and gift-card purchases: what you ordered, the delivery address you typed, the amount, and the payment reference from Razorpay. We never receive your card number or UPI PIN.
Follows and preferences: which businesses you follow, mute or mark important.
Your display name, about text and profile photo stay on your phone only. Chat backups go to a folder in your own Google Drive; Pitta's servers never receive them and the app can only see files it created there.
What we collect from businesses
Owner and staff phone numbers, business name, category, contact details, hours, catalogue, and the content you broadcast.
Audience lists you upload. These are used only to reach people who have opted in to hear from you, and can be deleted from the portal at any time.
API keys and webhook endpoints you configure.
Why we use it
To deliver messages, orders and bookings between you and the businesses you follow.
To issue brand gift cards through our voucher partner and to refund you if a card cannot be issued.
To send push notifications you have enabled.
To keep the service safe: rate limits, spam reports, and blocking abusive accounts.
We do not sell personal data and we do not show third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
The businesses you follow see your number, your name as you typed it into an order, and what you sent them.
Razorpay processes gift-card payments. Hubble issues the brand vouchers. Each receives only what is needed to complete that purchase.
Google (Firebase) delivers push notifications. Google Drive holds backups you choose to make, under your own account.
Authorities, when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Messages and media expire on the schedule the business sets, two days by default. Orders and gift-card records are kept for accounting. Your account and follows exist until you delete the account.
Your choices
Mute or unfollow any business in one tap; block and report from the chat menu.
Clear any chat, or all chats, from Settings.
Log out to sign the phone out and wipe its local cache.
Delete your account from Settings; this removes your follows and profile and stops all messaging to your number.
