Every feature, in plain words

One app for the shops you follow — and for running one.

The same app is two products. A customer follows channels and gets a quiet inbox. A shop creates a channel and gets a broadcast list, a catalogue, orders, delivery, a website and an API. Nothing below is on a paid tier, because there isn't one.

The inbox

A shop can only reach you after you follow it. That single rule is what makes the rest of the inbox calm.

  • One thread per shopNo groups, no forwards from people you don't know, no one adding you to anything.
  • Unread and unanswered are different thingsUnread means you haven't opened it. Unanswered means nobody replied yet. The app tracks them separately, so a thread you read but never answered doesn't disappear from view.
  • ListsGroup the channels you follow — groceries, work, the school — and mute a whole list at once. A list's mute wins over the channel's own setting.
  • Starred messagesThe tracking number, the coupon, the address the shop sent. Star it and it has its own screen.
  • StatusA separate tab for the day's posts — photos, text cards, polls — that expire on their own instead of sitting in your chat.
  • SearchAcross channels and inside a thread.

Chat

Everything you expect a modern messenger to do, without the things you don't want it to do.

Messages

  • Text, photos, video, voice notes and documents
  • Reply to a specific message, forward, copy, edit, delete
  • Long-press for the full menu; message info shows sent, delivered and read
  • Links open with a preview; a shared location opens a map
  • Jumbo emoji, and a translation-free, ad-free thread

Delivery you can trust

  • Messages are acknowledged and replayed if your connection drops — nothing is quietly lost
  • Ticks work both ways, including for channels that reply through the API
  • Typing and read receipts
  • Push notifications you can switch off per channel

Backup and restore

  • Back your chats up to your own Google Drive — our servers never receive the file
  • Restore on a new phone right after you sign in
  • Photos, voice notes and documents play from the restored archive
  • A verification code is never written into a backup

Make it yours

  • Chat wallpaper, gradients or your own photo
  • Per-type auto-download rules to save data
  • Ringtone per channel or per list
  • Dark mode

Buying and booking

The catalogue lives in the chat, so ordering is a message, not a new app.

  • Browse and orderOpen a shop's catalogue, pick options and quantities, add to the basket, and place the order from the thread. The order card lands in the same chat.
  • Delivery or pickupDelivery charges are worked out from your PIN code, with the shop's free-delivery threshold applied before you confirm — the price you are quoted is the price on the order.
  • Follow the orderPlaced, accepted, packed, out for delivery, completed — with the rider's name and a tappable phone number when the shop adds one.
  • BookingsA table, a slot, an appointment: pick a time the shop has opened, and get the confirmation in the thread.
  • Prices that add upRupees, per-item GST on the bill, and discount codes you tap rather than type.

Finding shops

Explore

Browse by category or city, or use Near me to find channels around you. Only verified channels appear in Explore — an unverified one can still be followed by link or by search, but it cannot advertise itself to strangers.

Search that looks for a shop

Results match a channel's name, handle, category and city, in that order of relevance, and the order is stable — not a feed that reshuffles on every open.

Verified ticks

A tick means we checked a real registration — GST, Udyam, a company number, a domain or a document — against the name on the channel. A verified channel cannot quietly rename itself afterwards.

Gift cards

Buy a brand gift card inside the app at a discount, and keep it in your chat with the brand. The code and PIN arrive as a message you can star, with the expiry and the redemption instructions attached. Hundreds of brands are listed; each one shows its own denominations and its own saving before you pay.

This is how Pitta makes money. It is the only way it does — no packages for shops, no per-message fee, no advertising.

Your control

Consent, not reach

A channel cannot message you until you follow it or accept its one request. Unfollowing ends it for good — a channel you unfollowed cannot be answered back into your inbox.

One message request, then silence

A channel that hasn't earned a follow gets exactly one sealed request. It cannot send a second until you accept the first, so nothing can stack up behind your decision.

Verification codes, labelled

A login code is marked as one, and the notification says a code arrived rather than showing it on your lock screen. You can block codes from any channel from the chat menu — and switch them back on when a login fails.

AI content is labelled

When a channel posts an AI-generated image, it carries a label. The app also checks the file's own provenance data rather than taking the sender's word for it.

One phone at a time

Your number is signed in on one device. Signing in elsewhere signs the old phone out immediately and clears what was cached on it.

Delete your account

From Settings, in the app, at any time. The screen tells you exactly what will be deleted and what has to be kept before you confirm. How deletion works.

The channel

Create one from the same app in about a minute. Up to ten channels on an account, free, with no package to choose.

  • BroadcastOne post reaches every follower, in their inbox, where they answer you.
  • Answer one to oneEvery reply opens its own thread in your Channels tab, sorted so the unanswered ones surface first. Quick replies for the questions you get twenty times a day.
  • Rich messagesUp to three buttons under a message, a tappable list, a location, a photo set, a poll when you want the decision made for you.
  • Announcements only, if you preferSwitch replies off and the channel becomes a one-way feed, with the composer replaced by a plain "updates only" bar. Existing threads stay readable.
  • Audience listsUpload a CSV, XLSX or TXT of numbers with country codes to reach people who have already opted in to hear from you.

Catalogue

Products

Photos, description, price, options and variants with their own price deltas, stock, and per-item GST with a default for the shop. Search and paging when the list gets long.

Bulk import

Load the whole catalogue from a file. Errors come back with the line number that caused them, so a 300-row sheet is fixable in one pass.

Categories

Group products the way your shop is actually laid out; the storefront's category navigation follows it automatically.

Orders and delivery

Order flow

Accept or reject, mark packed, out for delivery with a rider's name and number, then completed. The customer sees every step in the chat as it happens.

Delivery rules

Flat fee, per-PIN-code zones, or free above an amount you set. Pickup and takeaway as their own option.

Payment

Cash on delivery, or online payment where you have it switched on. Abandoned baskets are visible, so you can ask.

Bookings

Open slots, take reservations and confirm from the same screen as your messages.

Promotions

  • Discount codesPercentage or amount, with limits, expiry and a minimum basket. Customers tap the code chip rather than copying it.
  • Five promotion typesOffers built for the way shops actually advertise — a price drop, a limited run, a bundle, a coupon, an announcement.
  • Status postsPhotos, text cards with your own colours and fonts, and polls — they expire on their own.
  • Gift-card storefrontSell your own brand's cards where the rail is switched on.

A website, included

Every channel gets a real shop on the web at its own address — yourname.pitta.pro, or a domain you own.

Five genuine layouts

Shop, Boutique, Market, Menu and Lookbook are different sites, not four recolours of one: different hero, different category navigation, different product cards.

It sells

A working basket, add-ons, tappable coupons, the GST line, delivery or takeaway with your own zones and fees — and the order arrives in your Pitta inbox like any other.

Product pages

Multi-image gallery with a full-screen lightbox, related products, search, sort, price filter, and a share row in your brand's colours.

Your words

About, Privacy and Terms pages you write yourself, in more than one language if you sell in more than one, plus custom pages.

Found on Google

Title, description, social preview image and a favicon generated from your logo — set from the app, no HTML anywhere.

246 country codes

Auto-detected at checkout, for when you sell past the border.

Insights and team

Insights

Who opened, who replied, what sold and when your day is busiest — as a screen you can tap into, not a PDF.

Followers

Follower count and growth, and the list itself.

A team

Invite staff by number. An invite is pending until they accept it, roles decide what each person can do, and the owner's controls stay with the owner. Staff can leave; only the owner can delete.

Developers

A channel can be driven by your own system: send messages from your backend, receive every inbound message on a webhook, and verify each delivery with an HMAC signature. Authentication codes have their own message type with four fixed templates, so a login code reaches the person waiting for it even when they have never followed you.

Safety and privacy

  • Business to customer onlyThere is no user-to-user messaging on Pitta. Nobody can find you, add you or message you because they have your number.
  • Messages don't pile up on our serversThey are held only long enough to deliver — two days by default — then deleted. Your copy stays on your phone.
  • Spam is throttledAutomated behaviour is detected and rate-limited, and a channel that abuses message requests loses them.
  • No ads, no data saleWe don't show third-party advertising and we don't sell personal data. Privacy policy.
